Recognized by Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, major universities/colleges, and continuing care facilities. ACLS Provider is designed specifically for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies, and who will regularly use ACLS skills within their scope of practice. This advanced course builds on skills and knowledge acquired on our Basic Life Support (BLS) course. The course gives students the opportunity to practice and demonstrate proficiency in continuous, high-quality CPR, high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. Students practice the application of these and other skills in simulated cases and will practice both team leader and team member roles. This training is divided into two sections: 1) Online section: Upon registration, you will receive access to the online modules in which you will complete the theoretical portion of the training and test at your own pace and time. The online section must be completed before the in-class session. 2) In-class section: You will be required to attend the in-class session where the BLS physical portion of the training will be completed. Upon successful completion of the BLS provider training, participants will then complete the ACLS course in which the focus will be on the physical skills, practice, and megacode. You must successfully complete both sections to receive your certification from Heart and Stroke. BLS certification is valid for one year and ACLS certification is valid for two years. Coffee, water, lights snacks will be provided for the in-class section of the training.
